Muro Leccese solar-tracking system

Altertecno has recently completed the construction of a solar-tracking photovoltaic plant in the municipal district of Muro Leccese (Lecce).

Plant power is around 1 MW (a peak power of 999,200 kilowatt). The plant is of the biaxial type and includes 4,520 panels installed in pairs on 226 swivelling structures that permit each panel to fully track the sun throughout all daylight hours (azimuth rotation angles from -55° to +55° South and tilt angles between 0 and 60 degrees).

The system employs panels with a peak power of 220 and 225 Wp. Thanks to the cradle rocking movement, the energy output of each panel in photovoltaic solar-tracking systems of this kind can be up to 35% greater than in traditional stationary systems.
